Are you happy with your current weight? If you are not I think I have something that you should read.
I was at a Christmas Party over the weekend and I was listening in on a conversation that a friend of mine was having about how unhappy she was about her weight. She has tried all the diets and had mixed success with them and exercise programs. She is considering a gym membership for the new year, her husband was reminding her of the exercise equipment they already had in the garage that is collecting dust. She wants a membership so that she can have that support that comes with a group of people trying to achieve a weight loss goal.
I can identify with her plight. I enjoy this time of year to reflect on the past year and plan and set goals for the coming year. I started putting “lose 10 pounds” on my list in 2000. Year after year that goal got carried forward, because I was just not committed to the goal. Are you committed to your goals? The problem was I didn’t know how to do it. Then I had this life changing experience that I wrote about here and that was my motivation. I wanted to stick around for my family and I was handed the shocking reality that I was not invincible anymore. It was time to lose weight and kick the spare tire of fat around my belly.
So how did I do it you ask? I did it by a combination of things. There is no magic pill that will make the fat and extra weight melt away. Stop looking for the latest diet remedy or prescription drug.
Lets start with the basics:
1. I was eating the wrong foods. Low carb diets and low fat diets are not the answer. Your body needs both types of foods but in balance. You need to remember that food is not the enemy, it is just the wrong kinds of foods are the enemy. You can actually eat more meals a day and lose weight faster than if you consumed fewer calories. How can this be?
2. I was procrastinating. We all do it. The adage goes that we make time for the those people and those things that we care about. Do you find yourself skipping a class or event because you just don’t want to go? That is human nature. I needed a road map to accomplish my weight loss goals.
3. I was not exercising enough to impact my lifestyle. Don’t be scared, exercise doesn’t have to be all Gold’s Gym and guys with no neck. Exercise can be as simple as consistently walking around the block, or using a bike or eliptical machine. There are hundreds of ways to exercise and boost your metabolism.
The Road Map
I stumbled upon this program and was very skeptical much like anyone searching for a solution to a problem. I have always done well when I have had a plan. I accomplish more high quality tasks each day when I start the day knowing what I want to accomplish. I have a plan that I want to share with you.
