One of the most compelling reasons why you should quit smoking is that based on data collected by The Center For Disease Control, it has been estimated that the average male smoker loses over 13 years of life. What’s even worse is that the average female smoker loses even more.
Does that get your attention? Good. Don’t you think it’s finally time to throw the cigarettes away?
It has now been established that smoking affects every major organ in our body. You know all about the problems that smoking can cause. You hear it daily. Premature death. Cancer. Lung disease. Heart attack. Stroke. Studies are now underway that might link smoking to Alzheimers disease.
It’s now been proven that those around you also suffer increased risks of disease just by breathing the second hand smoke. If nothing else, take a good long, long look at your children. Do you think it’s fair to be robbing them of extra years of their life?
You need to quit and you’ve known it for a long time. The question is, why haven’t you? Many smokers find that they would rather smoke than face the possibilities of going through withdrawal symptoms. This is utter rubbish. The health benefits alone far outweigh the short term withdrawal effects.
One of the best reasons why you should quit smoking is that your family would like you around for as long as possible. Don’t you think you owe that to those who love you?
Remember, most types of diseases that are associated with smoking are long suffering. Think about what this would do to your family. Think about the economic burden you’ll place on them just due to the fact you couldn’t give up cigarettes.
This is not to say the road to becoming smoke free is an easy one. It’s not. In fact, studies have shown that it may take you more than once to finally break free from your addiction. It’s not uncommon so please do not let it deter you.
Focus on all the additional years of life that you will have once you finally become smoke free. Don’t you think that in itself is worth it? Go ahead; ask those who love you if they do. At this point, instead of asking the question why you should quit smoking, maybe the question should be, when will you quit smoking? Make the decision. Throw the cigarettes away. You know you can do it. All you have to do is start.
I am happy to say that after being virtually chain smokers my husband and myself both gave up smoking 12 years or more ago!
We set up our own website in the hope that we will be able to help a few other people quit their own smoking habits and in the process save their health and some $’s
