Many people find themselves in a situation where they want to lose weight in 2 weeks because of some upcoming event or special occasion. They want to look their best by losing this weight, but they realize they have a limited amount of time. We all know that the best way to lose weight for long term success is to drop the pounds gradually, usually with a goal of one to two pounds per week. However, when you do not have that much time, there are ways to speed up the process and lose the excess pounds even faster. Depending on how much weight you want to lose, the process may seem grueling, especially if you are not used to exercising because you will need to incorporate both diet and exercise to lose weight fast.

Eat to Lose Weight

Many people think that they need to starve themselves in order to lose weight in a week or two, but this is only a temporary fix. You could go on a fast or one of the other extreme calorie restricted diets, but you need to realize that this will not result in permanent weight loss. In fact, you will likely lose more water and muscle than you will fat, but it can provide a quick reduction in weight.

A better weight loss method, especially when you are in a hurry such as those times when you want to lose weight in one week, is to follow a low-calorie, low-fat eating plan. Be very careful about your food choices because not all calories are created equal. Make those calories count by incorporating some whole-grains along with lean protein and low fat dairy. Try to avoid sugar and processed or prepackaged foods as much as possible. This type of eating plan will help you drop those pounds as quickly as possible.

Exercise to Maximize Your Weight Loss

Another key component of a program designed to help you lose weight in 2 weeks or less is exercise. Exercise will not only help you burn calories, but it will help speed up your metabolism to provide extra calorie burn even when you have stopped your workout. Ideally, you will do a workout in the morning or early afternoon to get your body and metabolism pumping for the rest of the day. However, do not limit yourself to that workout alone, throughout the day you should be looking for ways to increase the number of calories you burn. Jog in place while reading directions for something, do some squats while washing up the dishes, take the long way to your desk or maybe even walk up and down the stairs a few times. Anything and everything you can do to maximize the number of calories you burn will help you to drop those extra pounds quicker.

Losing weight for the long-term requires healthy living and healthy choices. Choose foods that are good for you and eat a nutritionally balanced diet while getting plenty of regular exercise and you will feel stronger and healthier as well as look better than you ever thought possible.
