Natural Cures for Hemorrhoids

While there are a number of over the counter medications for hemorrhoids, it can often be better to try natural cures for hemorrhoids first.  These are often inexpensive, easy to use and will help to not only relieve the pain caused by hemorrhoids but cure the hemorrhoids themselves.

Sitz Baths:

A Sitz bath can be a very effective natural cure for hemorrrhoids.  The bath itself can be purchased at your local pharmacy.  You can either fill it with warm water or warm water and Epsom Salts; if you choose to use salts, then add half a cup per gallon of water used.  Table salt can also be used as a substitute for Epsom Salts.

Sit in the bath, leaning back a bit so you do not put pressure on the hemorrhoids.  Allow the area to soak for fifteen to twenty minutes, then rinse and dry off.  Using a Sitz bath relieves pain and reduces swollen external hemorrhoids.

Homeopathic Creams and Pills:

Homeopathic creams can help to relieve the pain and swelling.  There are quite a few different kinds and they can be purchased quite inexpensively online.  Nelson’s Homeopathic Hemorrhoid cream is a good choice; a tube costs less than $10 and it not only provides pain relief but reduces the swelling as well.

Other homeopathic creams that you may want to consider are Hylands Homeopathic Hemmorex Ointment, Bhi Hemorrhoid Ointment and Avenoc Ointment.  These creams, however, while effective as pain killers, will not actually cure hemorrhoids.

There are also homeopathic tablet medications that provide a cure for hemorrhoids.  Hylands Hemorrhoids Tablets and Boiron Homeopathic Medicine Avenoc Tablets are both cures for hemorrhoids that can be used in conjunction with hemorrhoids creams.

While homeopathic medications are less likely to cause negative side effects than regular hemorrhoids creams and medicines, it is still important to follow the instructions on the box carefully and stop using the cream or tablets if your hemorrhoids get worse or you notice negative side effects.  Every person’s body is different and some people are more sensitive to certain ingredients than others.

Eating Right and Having Regular Exercise:

If you have hemorrhoids, then you will want to avoid constipation at all costs.  Constipation makes external hemorrhoids a lot worse and much more painful.  It is important to be aware of what foods cause this problem and avoid them if you have hemorrhoids.

Foods that you should avoid if you have hemorrhoids are white bread, white rice, processed foods, junk foods, soda, milk and cheese.  Also, try to avoid beverages such as coffee, beer and wine that are diuretic and drink lots of water.  Eating a diet rich in vegetables and fruit is a wise idea if you have hemorrhoids; fruits that are particularly helpful are raisins and prunes.  While healthy foods are not cures for hemorrhoids in themselves, they do help to reduce complications and can prevent your getting hemorrhoids in the first place.

Exercise is also important.  You can still engage in most forms of exercise despite having external hemorrhoids.  Walking, jogging, running and swimming are all good forms of exercise; choose one that you enjoy doing and make time in your schedule for it at least several times a week.
