The Kidney and Liver are the most important waste management organs in the human body. The kidney works so hard at filtering and cleansing contaminants and toxins from the blood stream that it can lose most of its functioning capacity before the body starts to show signs and symptoms of a problem.  The kidneys are important for maintaining a consistent blood volume, electrolyte balance and pH level.  One of the most effective ways for a doctor to control high blood pressure is to use medications that affect how the kidney functions.   Changing the volume of the fluid the kidneys retain will raise or lower the blood pressure.   This can be done with diuretics and ace inhibitors.

Kidneys like any other organ can become clogged with toxins, bacteria and other foreign substances blocking the filtering effectiveness of the nephrons.  Prescription medications can compromise the function of the kidneys and cause a build up of toxins.  Lets look at ways that you can support healthy cleansing of the kidneys.

Kidney Detox

  • Fresh organic apples – apples are a great source of fiber and b-complex vitamins.  Apples are also a natural chelating agent which can bind heavy metal toxins like mercury and remove them from the body.  Apples also appear to have the ability to reduce the chance of kidney stone formation due to their low acidity.  An apple a day!
  • Hydrangea and parsley – the hydrangea plant and parsley are natural diuretics that help encourage release of toxins in the urine.
  • Magnesium oxide and B-Complex – Magnesium helps reduce the chance of kidney stone formation and B-Complex vitamins are important sources of energy for kidney tissues.
  • Drink plenty of water – pure water will help facilitate the clearing of waste products from the body.

It is not necessary to do a kidney cleansing program more than once or twice a year, but put it on your calendar so you don’t forget.

Have you ever done a kidney detox or cleanse using any of the tips above?

when detoxifying the body, i always prefer to use natural foods which helps elimnate toxins. but it is also more convenient to use those commercial detox products.
