The Dollar Cost of Those Weight Loss Programs
Tags : Weight loss, weight loss tips
Today there are many plans and programs that will include tips to lose weight, special lose weight diets and often expensive diet foods. In every city and town there are groups who gather to pass alone dieting tips and offer support to those who wish to lose weight. Here are some of the most popular ones and what the dollar cost of their lose weight diets and plans is.
Let’s assume that you want to lose thirty pounds. Jenny Craig™ is a company that advertises all sorts of weight loss tips that involve individual counseling and continued support for those who are looking for lose weight diets. The Company advocates portion control and includes at extra cost, special weight loss meal plans and diet meals. The annual registration fee is around $300-400 with diet foods ranging from $12-20 per day. So the dollar cost of losing those thirty pounds? Perhaps as much as $1,000, although Jenny Craig’s website claims their food is often less than $1 per day more than you’d spend anyway.
Then there is Nutrisystem™. Nutrisystem™ offers programs that claim to be a fast way to lose weight, but include no group meetings or weigh-ins. These programs are done entirely at home and involve the use of Nutrisystem™’s diet foods and weight loss meal plans except for fresh fruits and vegetables. Nutrisystem™ claims that a member can expect to lose between one and two pounds per week. Those thirty pounds will take about four months to lose by following Nutrisystems™ lose weight diets, and cost just about $1,200.00.
Then there is WeightWatchers™, which may be the most famous of all, and the simplest weight loss plan on the market. There are group meetings, a basic membership cost and many, many special Weight Watcher™’s diet foods and weight loss meal plans. But Weight Watcher™’s food is optional. Instead, Weight Watchers™ teaches portion control and all foods that you might like are included. Of all the big name weight plans, Weight Watchers™ offers a slow and steady approach, not a fast way to lose weight. In the Weight Watchers™ plan it will take at least twenty weeks to lose those thirty pounds, and cost as little as $100.
Then there is the good old fashioned way. Reduce portions, increase exercise and set a goal of a few pounds lost every month. Gather healthy snack recipes together so you can have a little healthy snack when needed, develop your own weight loss meal plans, and promise yourself that you will get a little more exercise every day until you lose those thirty pounds. Save those dollars that you might have sent off to Jenny or Nutrisystem or WeightWatchers™, and when you have lost those thirty pounds, take a nice vacation to treat yourself.
