With so much attention paid to finding a fast way to lose weight, it is no wonder that there are so many myths associated with weight loss. Most researchers and physicians can provide a very long list of weight loss tips myths that should not be followed, or at least examined with care by each person in search of weight loss tips that may include diet meals, lose weight diets, and other lose weight tips.

Here are the top five weight loss tips myths:

  • Myth: Weight loss patches are a proven fast way to lose weight.

Fact: The chemical composition in weight loss patches may cause skin irritations or some form of allergic reaction in some people. There is no scientific proof that attests to the effectiveness of weight loss patches.

  • Myth: There are fast diets that offer a fast way to lose weight.

Fact: Reducing the amount of calories that are consumed coupled with a moderate regular exercise plan is the only real way to lose weight. Fast diets and other diets to lose weight alone will not give the lasting benefits of a careful weight loss plan.

  • Myth: Lose weight diets featuring high protein/low carbohydrates are a fool proof way to lose weight.

Fact: Fashionable during the early 1990’s, the effect of high protein/low carbohydrate diets to lose weight is not clearly understood. But there are some severe dangers to high protein/low carbohydrate weight loss meal plans. High protein intake is not a part of a balanced lose weight diet, and diet meals featuring heavy loadings of meat, eggs and cheese can severely increase the amount of cholesterol and fat. This can mean that such fast way to lose weight meal plans may present greater risk of heart disease and stroke.

  • Myth: Diet foods high in starch are in fact fattening and should not be part of any fast way to lose weight plan.

Fact: Many foods such as bread, pasta, fruits, rice, and beans while high in starch are very low in fat and calories and should be a central part of all weight loss meal plans. Only when eating high starch foods in very large servings or with heavy amounts of high fat toppings like butter or mayonnaise are starches not beneficial additions to weight loss meal plans.

  • Myth: Some foods like celery and grapefruit can he make you lose weight.

Fact: No food “makes” you to lose weight. The only way to lose weight is by controlling the portions of food consumed. Any weight loss meal plan must offer balanced nutrition with an increase in moderate exercise.  You can read about more healthy living tips here.
