Supersizeyourhealth Tip #3 Eat Smaller Portions
My wife and I love going to Carrabbas Italian Restaurant. But when we go there we marvel at the size of the portion that they give you. (In fairness Carrabbas has a Gluten Free Menu and a guide for patients with Diabetes). But don’t you ever wonder who is supposed to eat all the food you are served? I mean they try to get you to order appetizers and dessert on top of dinner!
When was the last time you went to a restaurant and gasped at the size of the portion you were served? Next time you sit down at a meal, pause for a moment and evaluate the size of the portion you have been given. There are times when you get a pasta plate that would feed Italy! Here is a tip that I have come up with to deal with most dining out meal portions. Divide the plate in half. Eat half and take the rest home. Just because your mother told you as a kid that you had to clean your plate doesn’t mean you have to now. In fact, I would recommend that you don’t clean your plate, plan on leftovers.
Get used to eating smaller portions. Smaller portions lead to lower calories consumed. After a period of a few weeks you will find yourself consuming smaller meals and not feeling like a glutton after dinner. Plus with the economy the way it is today, you will have two meals for the price of one.
