There is a great summary on the facts about Vitamin D importance, testing, and supplementation over at www.redorbit.com by Jarod M Skowran.
Vitamin D may very well be the missing link to our good health. Think about your daily activities. Unless you live on Maui and surf for a living (I would settle for living on Maui) there is a very good chance that you will not be getting enough sun exposure to allow your skin to manufacture the amount of Vitamin D your body requires for optimal health and wellness.
The standard rule of thumb is exposure to the sun for 20 minutes three times a week, every week of the year. Do you work indoors most of the day? Do you wear gobs of suncreen when you do go out in the sun? All that works against us. Heck, I live in Ohio, we are happy to get 3 months of pure summer a year!
